A steel trunk filled with five lakh holograms which disappeared from the election office in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, a fortnight ago has resurfaced in one of the store rooms of the office.

After the Chief Election Officer (CEO), MP, reported the disappearance of the holograms to the Election Commission, the latter last week sent a two-member fact-finding team to Rewa. ‘‘The incident was reported to us by the Madhya Pradesh CEO. Five lakh holograms kept for preparation of (voter) identity cards prior to the Assembly election had been handed over to the election office in Rewa which were found missing the next day,’’ sources in the EC said.

However, the day the EC team reached Rewa, the holograms ‘‘mysteriously resurfaced’’ in one of the store rooms of the Election Office. ‘‘A report has been submitted to the Chief Election Commission on Monday. The trunk with the holograms were found to be intact in a store of the Election office,’’ sources in the EC said.
