Notwithstanding Sonia Gandhi’s decision to refuse PM post, former BJP general secretary K.N. Govindacharya today vowed to continue his movement over the foreign origin issue.

Speaking to reporters, Govindacharya said: ‘‘Sonia’s decision is only a temporary reprieve.’’ The movement, according to him, had to continue till adequate provisions were made in the law to ‘‘so that all such adventures (by foreigners to occupy high offices) are forestalled’’.

Govindacharya added: ‘‘All parties should first amend their constitutions. People of foreign origin should not be allowed to contest even for corporations.’’ He said his Rashtriya Swabhiman Andolan and Swadeshi Jagran Manch would spread awareness among people. His secretary Sunder said angry Congress workers surrounded Govindacharya and raised slogans against him and Uma Bharati for opposing Sonia’s candidature.
