NEW DELHI, Aug 25: The ailing Laloo Prasad Yadav, former Bihar Chief Minister, who is in judicial custody, may be shifted to Delhi from the Indira Gandhi institute of medical sciences, Patna, for “some special test” not available in the hospital.

Sources in Bihar Bhawan today said that the “State Government was keen on getting a thorough medical check up done.”

However, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) denied knowledge of any move to admit Yadav, an accused in the multi-crore fodder scam, in the institute even though a senior cardiologist of AIIMS examined him in Patna recently.

The head of the department of cardiology, Dr S C Manchanda, examined him purely on a request from the Bihar government to get a second opinion on Laloo Yadav’s illness, official sources said.

Meanwhile, Escorts Heart Institute, where the former Chief Minister is likely to be shifted for some sophisticated tests, said that they have no knowledge of Yadav proposed admittance to their hospital. However, they said Dr Naresh Trehan, head of the heart institute, was away in USA and he would be able to throw light.
