PUNE, April 26: Road traffic at the railway gate near Pimpri was blocked for nearly three hours when the gateman who had worked continuously for 32 hours left the place after closing the gates.

The gateman was manning the railway gate near the J G glass factory on the road connecting Pimprigaon and the highway. The city traffic police and the railway police managed to control the traffic and prevented occurrence of any untoward incident.

According to the police, the gateman had worked continuously for 32 hours and had informed the Pimpri railway station master this morning that he could not manage the work any more. He left work after closing the gates at around 11 am after no other employee came to relieve him.PSI B K Londhe, PSI D L Choure and city traffic police rushed to the spot when they learnt that traffic had been blocked.

The volume of traffic was small due to the holiday, police said. The traffic was cleared by 1.30 pm.
