January 5: Over 6,000 workers of the Khatau Mills today held a morcha at the Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India (ICICI) office at Mahalaxmi protesting its failure to pay their wages. The Board of Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) has appointed the ICICI, the financial institution monitoring the mill’s revival proposal, to oversee the sale of Khatau’s finished goods.
The corporation was asked to use 50 pc of the sale proceeds to pay the workers’ wages. However, the ICICI has failed to organise the sale.
