WASHINGTON, February 3: Monica Lewinsky, at the core of sex-and-lies allegations involving President Bill Clinton, visited the White House 37 times after she left her job as an intern in 1996, The New York Times said today.
The visits were usually cleared by the President’s personal secretary and were “not related with the new job she took up at the Pentagon’s press office, said officials who saw or were briefed about White House visitation logs.
The logs were subpoeaned by independent counsel Kenneth Starr who is investigating allegations that Clinton had an 18-month affair with then 21-year-old Lewinsky and asked her to lie about it.
However the purpose of Lewinsky’s visits to the White House or her destination once she was inside was not described to the daily by the officials.
