MUMBAI, Nov 12: Another win for Ashim Mongia-Pushpendra Garg and another protest against them by Naresh Yadav-Girdharilal Yadav formed the highlight of the fourth race of the Maersk Enterprise Sailing Championships off Naval Sailing Club here today.

The protest was, however, not upheld and Mongia-Garg got to keep their positions. With one discard allowed in this seven race series, Mongia-Garg need to win all the remaining races to retain their hold on the National title.

The protest by the Yadavs were about an incident that happened on the third beat first leg of the second triangle. Naresh Yadav claimed Mongia-Garg tacked into their waters. 8220;When he tacked into my waters, I had to tack to avoid collision. I warned him but he continued to do so,8221; explained Naresh Yadav.

Ashim had this to say: 8220;We were way ahead of Naresh Yadav. They had enough room to manoeuvre.8221;

The fourth race was much closer with not just Mongia-Garg and the Yadavs fighting it out. Dilip Acharya-Jitendra Rami were very muchin the picture. They were in fact leading until they hit the buoy-marker and did a penalty of 720 degree turn. The lead slipped out of their hands and Mongia grabbed it to win the race.

Both Mongia-Garg and the Yadavs had a bad start which allowed Acharya-Rami, who came in from the left, to sneak ahead at the first mark. Mongia-Garg and then the Yadavs followed him in that order.

At the completion of the first triangle, Acharya-Rami were 10 seconds ahead of the other two pairs.

Mongia-Garg, who were breathing down the Acharya-Rami pair for the first half of the race, lost out on speed on the run. 8220;There were too many boats clustered together. We were getting blanketted out as the wind was right behind us and so were the boats,8221; opined Ashim Mongia.

At the rounding of the mark after the loop, Acharya-Rami touched the mark and did the penalty. It was a particularly tight rounding with at least five boats coming close to the mark.

On the beat thereafter, Mongia-Garg went to the left and so did theYadavs. At the third windward mark, Mongia-garg came in from the right and rounded first, Yadavs followed them. Amol Rane-Girish Rao, who kept moving up to the fourth position, suffered a capsize when they were in the third position.Mehul Ashar-Rahul Kansar took over the third position and maintained it till the finish. Acharya-Rami finished fourth.
