It turned out to be a disappointing day for the Indians in the English county with both Dinesh Mongia and Ajit Agarkar failing to make any impression in their respective championship Division 1 matches.

Mongia scored only 15 in Lancashire’s first innings against Warwickshire at Old Trafford yesterday while Ajit Agarkar followed his zero with the bat with figures of 4-0-27-0 in Middlesex’s game against Kent at Southgate.

In reply to Warwickshire’s first innings score of 410, Lancashire reached 167-3 at stumps on second day with Mongia making his runs off 37 balls with one four.

Mongia returned to pavilion after offering a return catch to Australian slow left-arm bowler Brad Hogg.

Agarkar, too, hardly played any role as his team posted 351 in the first innings before skittling out Kent for 192 with Australian Glenn McGrath returning with figures of 4-59.
