S.A.S. NAGAR, Sept 8: The Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA) would invest Rs 5 lakh to provide a water feature to the township’s Bougainvillea Park in Phase-V.

Stating this, while reviewing the functioning of a consultative committee here today, Additional Chief Administrator of PUDA Seema Jain said that three new parks were being built in Phase-II, IIIB-2 and Sector 65.

Keeping in view the public demand two more parks in Sector 70 and 71 having modern facilities and new features would be set up.

A herbal park was being developed in the township and would be thrown open to the public by the year end, Jain said.

Highlighting the functioning of the Estate office, the ADC said that during the anti-encroachment drive in August property worth crores of rupees was vacated and taken possession of. The commercial market of Phase-3A was put to auction for the first time, Jain said.

She further revealed that the vacant land opposite the PUDA complex in Phase-I would be developed into an additional parking area this year.

"As part of the beautification of Mohali, two new roundabouts, the landscaping of which has been approved by the PUDA, are being developed. One in Phase-I has been handed over to the Dip Plast Company and the one opposite YPS is being developed by the PUDA itself.

In Phase-6, PUDA is developing a pool for learners alongside the main swimming pool. Electrification of Sector 62 and S.A.S. Nagar Leisure Valley has been undertaken, she said.
