In a step that could go a long way in providing doorstep service to consumers, the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has taken a decision to provide a mobile van at each district headquarter by the end of this month. The vans would attend to complaints regarding power supply round-the-clock.

A spokesman of the nigam said here today that it had been planned to provide a fully-equipped mobile van to Panchkula during the first week of November. Ambala, Yamuna Nagar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Panipat, Sonipat, Rohtak, Jind and Jhajjar districts would also get the vans by the end of November. The control of the vans would be taken care of by the executive engineer concerned, he said

Instructions had also been given to field officers to immediately set up Bijli Suvidha Kendras (BSKs) at each district headquarter with a common telephone number for all the BSKs.The Nigam had earmarked Rs 4 crore for setting up BSKs during the current fiscal, the spokesman added.

Initially, electricity complaints would be registered at these kendras and the staff of the areas concerned would attend to the complaints. “The nigam will also explore possibility of converting some of the BSKs into large call centres for handling complaints pertaining to outages and commercial matters too,” he further said.
