BANGALORE, Sept 29: Constituency-wise developmental works and the achievements of MLAs in Karnataka are being computerised now.

This Rs 2-crore project taken up by Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar will put development details on display at the Secretariat from Tuesday. Ramesh Kumar said data with regard to the area, population, literacy rate, health, education, agriculture, horticulture, forest area and irrigation projects would be fed into the computer. The amounts sanctioned, released, expenditure and the progress of developmental works in all areas will also be added.

This system is aimed at detecting cases of works not taken up despite the release of funds and also the works “completed on paper”. The instances of MLAs neglecting developmental works due to political reasons will come to light through the computer.

The Secretariat has also started maintaining the personal files of all MLAs. The files will have details of MLAs’ performance on the floor of the legislature — thenumber of questions asked, the issues raised and subjects discussed. On completion of the MLA’s term, the Secretariat will hand over the file to the respective MLA, Kumar added.
