CHENNAI, July 17: DMK MLA Saidai Kittu’s vehicle was among the nearly 20 cars which breached security protocols at the Old Airport here today, when TN CM M Karunanidhi left for New Delhi to attend the United Front Steering Committee Meeting. Kittu’s car did not have the necessary pass to enter the tarmac area, and, when the vehicle was prevented from going into the place, the MLA kicked up a row, reportedly threatening the duty police with "dire consequences". He was eventually allowed to proceed. Sources said the car of the CM himself lacked the necessary pass. According to rules, the International Airports Division of the AAI is the sole authority for issue of temporary passes for VVIP visits, and even the vehicles of the President and Governors are not exempted from these rules. The Bureau of Civil Aviation is reviewing the breach of security, not the first by ruling DMK men.
