The stock market on Wednesday continued its gaining streak with the BSE benchmark Sensex rising by over 115 points during morning trade.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) 30-share index extended gains to ninth successive session as FII activity picked up in the last couple of days.
Sensex opened strong at 15,535.35 and later improved further to a high of 15,580.86, a rise of 115.46 points over Tuesday’s close of 15,465.40.
Similarly, the broad-based S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also improved by 28.25 points to 4,507.50 from previous close of 4,479.25.
Top heavyweight petrochemical giant Reliance Industries (RIL) hit an all-time high of 1999.30 on reports that the company has agreed to buy a clutch of fuel stations and storage facilities in one of the fastest growing regions in Africa.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the last three days and pumped in Rs 1553.20 crore, including provisional figure of Rs 348.20 crore of September 4.
Domestic Institutional Investors remained consistent buyers and picked up shares worth Rs 142.50 crore on Tuesday.
