AIZAWL, NOV 14: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga today said he had met senior NSCN(I-M) leaders in Bangkok and has impressed upon them the necessity of creating an atmosphere of mutual trust between the organisation and the Centre.

Zoramthanga, who is involved in brokering a peace deal at the request of both NSCN(I-M) and the centre, said he had met Th Muivah and several other leaders of the organisation thrice in Bangkok during his stay there.

He said, as a former rebel leader of erstwhile underground Mizo National Front himself he felt the NSCN (I-M) faced the same problems and the formula for solving them would be more or less similar.

Zoramthanga had agreed to be involved in the Naga peace deal after both the Centre and NSCN(I-M) leadership requested him to break the impasse over the Naga organsiation’s insistence to extend the ceasefire in all the Naga inhabited areas of Assam, Meghalaya and Manipur.

He had said earlier that his role would be to build mutual trust between the two sides.
