LONDON, SEPT 21: The headquarters of Britain's fortress-like foreign intelligence agency in central London was rocked by a ``small missile'' in an attack late on Wednesday, the head of Scotland Yard's anti-terrorist branch Alan Fry said.Police sealed off the area around the MI6 headquarters considered to be one of Britain's most secure offices sparking massive transport disruption in the capital. Fry said the 9:45 pm explosion at the eighth floor of the building only caused ``minimal damage'' to the exterior of the bomb-proof building. No injuries were reported. Witnesses reported two massive explosions, and Fry hinted that suspicions had already fallen on an Northern Ireland connection to the attack.Addressing journalists outside the MI6 headquarters early on Thursday, Fry said police investigating the attack were ``keeping in mind the capabilities of dissident'' Irish groups but were not ruling out other possible perpetrators. But Fry refused to speculate on the type of device used in the attack, as forensic investigators set about combing the area around the building which stands on the South bank of the Thames River around one km from Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament. The surrounding central London streets remained sealed off early on Thursday, causing major disruption to traffic including a suspension of Eurostar rail services which passes the MI6 office linking London with Paris and Brussels via the Channel tunnel. The work of the intelligence service had not been affected by the blast, Fry said. Eyewitnesses said they heard a loud explosion and a flash of light coming from the eighth floor of the building. That was followed in quick succession by a second, smaller blast. Alex Frank, a local resident quoted by Sky News television, said he had heard two separate explosions. ``There were definitely two explosions, they were loud enough to shake the building where I was living.''Wendy Cook, a lawyer who lives near the scene, said there were two large explosions, ``exceptionally loud, one running into the other.
