Eighty nervous beauties will be the centre of attention on Tuesday in this Andean nation, where the Miss Universe pageant is to take place. Journalists from all over the world have flocked to Ecuador to watch 80 women from all over the globe, including India’s Tanushree Dutta, strut their stuff in front of nine judges.

In the last few days, the contestants have competed to be among the 15 finalists who will be named on Tuesday. About 7,600 people have paid up to $250 to attend the flamboyant competition, which is owned by billionaire-turned-reality-TV star Donald Trump. Meanwhile, Bangladesh said today that it would broadcast the Miss Universe contest for the first time. —(Agencies)
