NAGPUR, March 27: The Nagpur University has set up a committee, headed by management council member Arun Satputale, to inquire into the lack of infrastructural facilities at the Central India Institute of Mass Communication whose director Sunil Mishra is currently in magisterial custody following arrest on charges of rape and blackmail.Vice-Chancellor B B Chopane stated this while replying to questions on the scandal at a meet-the- press programme organised by the Nagpur Union of Working Journalists here on Thursday.Chopane said the 28-year-old Mishra had got the permission directly from the state government to start the journalism course from 1997-98 academic session, the university had no choice but to fall in line after the government gave him the permission, he added.Mishra was arrested on March 10 under Sections 384, 354, 509 and 292 of the Indian Penal Code on the charge of raping in 18-year-old girl after photographing her in the nude after promising her of getting a job in Doodarshan. Theadditional sessions judge extended his magisterial custody till April 7.
