MUMBAI, July 18: Lying in the trauma ward of the B Y L Nair Hospital, five-year-old Saifi Ali pesters his father for Electral. Though he was admitted with serious head injuries after he and his teenage sister were was knocked down by a police van at Worli on Saturday, it is a stomach ache that troubles Saifi the most. His father says Saifi's belly-ache began some days ago and the Electral provides some relief.Saifi's father, Mohammad Ali, a taxi-driver, comforts him saying he will get the Electral as soon as they return home. He tries his best to mollify the boy for the time-being. But the child is still to reconcile to the fact that he is in hospital, the six stitches he has received and intravenous drip notwithstanding. He tells his father the mixture must be somewhere in the room and that he should get it for him.His father, who has not left Saifi's side since Saturday, says the boy was administered a bottle of blood this morning. His 17-year-old sister, Sheikh Madina, has also received head injuriesbut they are not serious.Ali learnt of the accident when he returned to his Jijamata Nagar residence at Worli at 10 pm. He was told that the driver, whose vehicle had skid and knocked Saifi down, had also rushed the boy and his sister to hospital. The driver, Jatin Dasani, had even remained at the hospital till this morning, Ali says, acknowledging that the incident was ``just an accident''. He adds that the family will not press charges and their immediate concern is Saifi's recovery. Dasani had offered to pay for Saifi's treatment, hesaid. Worli police say a case has been registered under Section 279 and 338 of the Indian Penal Code, for causing serious injuries to pedestrians. They say the incident was ``an accident''. Dasani has been a driver with the police for the last three years.
