AHMEDABAD, Sept 2: Minority schools of the Maninagar and neighbouring areas have got together to form a Minority Schools Association, apparently feeling insecure after attacks on minority schools in the state by the Bajrang Dal and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.

At a Tuesday meeting of all major school managements and principals from the area, barring two, a unanimous decision was taken in favour of forming the association.

Principal ID Rueben of Ruebs High School, who was appointed president of the association by popular vote, said the schools needed to unite to work on educational and academic issues.

One of the views voiced at the meeting was that some disgruntled elements should not hamper them from furthering the cause of education. The newly formed association also decided to talk on issues like admissions, donations, tutions and uniforms.

The association elected Surendra Thakor, managing trustee of Hebron High School as secretary, and Mrs Khokar of St Bosco School as vice-president.
