LUDHIANA, Sept 22: Work in almost all government offices here including the DC’s office, the Treasury, Health, Education, Irrigation, PWD B and R, Public Health, Excise and Taxation Industry, Forest and Food and Supplies Departments continued to be disrupted as a result of the pen down strike by ministerial employees that entered its 8th day today.

Braving incessant rain, agitating employees held a rally at the mini secretariat here. Speaking on this occasion, K. K. Jindal, State Secretary of Punjab State Ministerial Services Union condemned the state government for its silence over the ongoing strike and its persistent refusal to concede to the genuine demands of the employees.

Jindal announced that the stir will continue till the downgrading in pay scales of ministerial staff was not rectified and revised scales implemented along with grant of time-bound promotional scales and other allowances.

Other Union activists including Harwant Singh Mangat, Sukhwinder Singh, Kulbhushan Kanwar, Harnek Singh Mavi, Nachhattar Singh, Dalip Singh, Avtar Singh Sidhu, Vijay Marjara, Darshan Singh Ladla, Avtar Singh Puda and Amrik Singh also addressed the rally.

Kharar: Ministerial staff in all Government offices in Roopnagar district observed pen-down strike which adversely affected work in all the offices.

Jagir Singh and Jagmohan Sharma, presidents of the district and local unit of the DC’s Office Employees Union, said the strike will continue till Sept 27.
