AGARTALA, July 26: Six militant outfits, including the banned All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF), have given a call for boycotting the independence day celebrations saying “it is not meant for the indigenous people of the region.”

The six outfits jointly urged the people to make the boycott call a success and to observe bandh on August 15, president of Tripura Peoples Democratic Front (TPDF), a political wing of ATTF, Ranjit Debbarma said over telephone from his hideout last night.

Debbarma said a coordination committee has been formed with six major outfits of the region – National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K), United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA), Peoples Liberation Front of Kangleipak (PREPAK), Revolutionary Peoples Front (RPF) and United National Liberation Front (UNLF) besides ATTF.

The joint front decided to observe bandh in the region on August 15 raising black flags in different parts including Tripura.

Debbarma said his outfit had been fighting in Tripura against the “neglect ofthe innocent and indigenous Tripura denizens and against atrocities by the security forces.”
