National Conference former youth wing president, Sheikh Ghulam Ahmad Saloora, was injured in a mysterious blast near Duderhama village in Ganderbal, Srinagar this morning.

SSP Ganderbal Afad-ul-Mujtaba said the blast took place inside Saloora’s car while he was driving towards Ganderbal. Mujtaba ruled out any grenade attack saying window panes were rolled up and there was no chance of a grenade getting inside the car. ‘‘We believe either someone must have planted a timer device,’’ he said.

Saloora was shifted to SKIMS, Soura in a critical condition. A doctor attending him said that he was now out of danger. Police sources said Saloora’s security was downgraded from Y-level to X.

Meanwhile, an Army spokesperson said two Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed in an encounter at Srindhoo, Kulgam. Two AK rifles, two magazines, one pouch, 60 rounds and a wireless set were recovered.
