
MUMBAI, February 14: Minor tremors were experienced in some parts of Mumbai, as the impact of the minor earthquake recorded in the Koyna region of Maharashtra early this morning hit the city. The earthquake at Koyna was recorded at 3.9 on the Richter scale at 6.30 a m, said M M Apte, duty assistant at the Indian Meteorological Department at Colaba here.
No loss of life or property was reported at any part of the region because of the earthquake, the police control room confirmed. Apte said the earthquake was recorded at the epicentre of latitude 17.3 degree north and 73.7 degree east of Koyna. The epicentre was 16 kilometres away from Koyna dam, which is safe, he added.
