AC Milan wrapped up the Italian title, Werder Bremen closed in on the German one and Olympique Lyon continued to lead in France though their lead was cut down to just two points in the last few legs of the leading European leagues.

AC Milan beat second-placed AS Roma 1-0 on Sunday to clinch their 17th Serie A title. Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko’s second-minute header settled a match that was twice interrupted after irritated Roma fans threw missiles on to the pitch.

Milan moved nine points ahead of Roma with two games remaining. Third-placed Juventus lost 1-0 to struggling Perugia.

Werder Bremen thrashed Hamburg SV 6-0 to stay six points ahead of Bayern Munich with three matches Left. Bayern needed a late goal to seal a 2-1 win over bottom club Cologne, who were relegated. Werder play Bayern next weekend.

Olympique Lyon’s lead at the top of Ligue 1 was cut to two points when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Girondins Bordeaux. Midfielder Vikash Dhorasoo claiming Lyon’s equaliser just three minutes from time.

Monaco won 2-1 at neighbours Nice on Friday to climb to second. Paris St Germain slipped to third, one point behind Monaco, after being held to a 0-0 draw at Racing Strasbourg.
