MGR statue damaged, alleges Jaya

Claiming that a statue of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M G Ramachandran was damaged by unidentified persons in Tuticorin district, AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa today demanded immediate action against culprits.

In a statement here, Jayalalithaa said the statue was removed from the pedestal and was found broken yesterday. She said the police had not initiated action even after receiving complaints from the people. Police inaction showed that law and order in the state has deteriorated, she added.
