The person who leaked documents about an inquiry into the London Police’s shooting of Jean-Charles de Menezes has been suspended, the BBC and Sky news said on Friday.

The whistleblower was not identified, but was said to belong to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC)—the police watchdog that is currently investigating the killing of Menezes.

The Police Complaints Commission has refused to either confirm or deny the reported suspension of the whistleblower, which came barely two days after ITV News broadcast exclusive revelations about the shooting. Spokesman David Nicholson said in a statement, ‘‘We do not comment on personnel matters.’’ At the same time, he noted, ‘‘The IPCC and the Metropolitan Police recognise that the unauthorised disclosure of information cannot be ignored and must be addressed.’’ —AFP/PTI
