NAGPUR, NOV 30: Failure of the soyabean crop in particular and other crops in general in the Melghat region has created a piquant situation for the tribals. Driven to desperation for lack of money to sustain livelihood, tribals are making exodus from the area in search of job.

A notice issued by Bandya from Khoj socio-cultural organisation based at Paratwadai in Amravati district, the agricultural produce from the region is so scarce that the tribals just manage to earn enough to sustain a season. But this year scarcity of rains played havoc with the standing crops. Lack of rains has also affected the sowing of the rabi crops.

The soyabean crop in the region failed this year. As it is the tribals get very poor price for the crop from the Tribal Development Corporation. Even otherwise the payment is never made on time. This makes it very difficult for the tribals to sustain life.

With no hope in sight, a lot of tribals are now leaving their habitat including Chunkhedi, Makhla, Khadimal, Bachhukhedi andNavalgaon villages in search of some employment.
