NEW DELHI, December 25: In two separate raids, the Anti-Corruption branch of the Delhi government apprehended two government employees for taking bribes. While one of those arrested is employed as a clerk in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the other one is a dealing clerk in Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB).

Anil Kumar Goswami, an Upper Divisional Clerk in the Slum Department of the MCD, was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 500 by inspectors G.L. Mehta and Ramesh Kaushik. According to Sudhir Yadav, DCP, Anti-Corruption Branch, Goswami, had demanded Rs 3,000 from Rajiv Mallhi to help him get ownership rights for a slum property, which he is already occupying and that this was part of the payment. As per the slum department’s policy, people in occupation of the property are granted ownership rights after completion of some paperwork and making a small payment.

In the other case, Sidharth Jain, a dealing clerk in DVB was arrested while taking a sum of Rs 500 from Abdul Hamid, an ex-head constable of the Delhi Police. According to the police, Jain had demanded a sum of Rs 1,000 from Hamid in order to get him an no-objection certificate (NOC) from the DVB for the flat that he had vacated in Police Colony in Model Town. When Hamid said that he could not pay Rs 1,000, they negotiated and he settled for Rs 500. He was caught red-handed while accepting this sum.
