PATNA, OCT 30: Four policemen were killed on the spot while Bihar Higher Education Minister Dr Saba Ahmed escaped unhurt when the armed activists of outlawed Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) attacked at a football ground of Kenduatand village under Tundi block in Dhanbad distict on Sunday evening, official sources said here on Monday.The sources said heavily-armed MCC men attacked policemen when Dr Ahmed was distributing prizes after the football match. The Minister immediately left for Dhanbad.Four others including three policemen also suffered serious injuries were admitted to Central hospital, Dhanbad. The extremists looted four official rifles, one stengun and a service revolver, besides a number of ammunition after the attack, the sources said. Those killed were constables of Dhanbad district police escorting the Minister.The bootball tournament was organised in the memory of tribal youth, Rooplal Soren. When contacted, Dr Ahmed said more than 200 shots were fired and several bombs exploded when the extremists mixed in audience started their attack on the policemen accompanying him as he moved to give away the prizes on completion of the match.
