CHANDIGARH, Oct 28: Hundreds of employees and workers of the municipal corporation participated in the rally-cum-torch light procession organised here today on a call given by the Joint Action Committee of MC Employees and Workers.They were protesting the "arbitrary and illegal" transfers of employees from the UT administration to MC and demanded that they should be treated on deputation.The procession began at about 5.30 p.m. near the Sector 17 Municipal Corporation office and culminated at the bus stand. The traffic had to be diverted to other routes.Action committee's convenor Ramesh Kant said they had taken up the issue with the Administration many times but to no avail.They also claimed that the officials had promised to take up the matter with the Central government in January but nothing happened.
