MUMBAI, NOV 21: Mayor Nandu Satam today said that the shortage of blood in the metropolis could be well augmented by regularly conducting blood donation camps and spreading public awareness.
He was speaking at a function to inaugurate the Pre-conference Satellite Symposium on Clinical Use of Blood and Blood Products at the BYL Nair Hospital Auditorium today. It is being jointly hosted by the International Conference on Organisation and Management of Blood Transfusion Service, Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine and Indian Societies of Haematology and Blood Transfusion.
Satam lauded the commitment and efforts of various social service organisations, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), in their initiative in organising blood donation camps, which were an urgent need of the hour and helped save many lives.
“These are a far cry away and do not really meet the requirements of the city. We need to organise such camps on a large scale,”said Satam. The meet has been called to enabledelegates to update their knowledge on safe blood supply and transfusion.
