LUCKNOW, AUG 16: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) vice president Mayawati today said she will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Akbarpur instead of Basti (reserved) parliamentary constituency as announced earlier.

Speaking at a press conference here, Mayawati said sitting Member of the Legislative Assembly Lalmani Prasad will be the party nominee from Basti (reserved) Lok Sabha seat.

Bowing to pressure from partypersons in Akbarpur, the seat which she had represented in the dissolved Lok Sabha, she was opting for it in place of Basti (reserved) seat, she said.

Three BSP legislators from Akbarpur have offered to quit as there was strong pressure on them to bring Mayawati back, she said.

The party has also changed its candidate from Bulandshahr Lok Sabha seat. Naaz Mohammed Khan will now be fielded from Bulandshahr in place of Imtiyaz Mohammed Khan.
