Stepping up their attacks, Naxalites today killed a local BJP leader and a hotel owner in Konta block of Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district, police said.Five armed Naxalites came to BJP’s backward cell Konta block President Ravi Kant Mahodia’s house this morning and attacked him with a knife and other sharp-edged weapons.Mahodia, who also works as a building contractor, tried to flee but the Naxalites chased him and killed, Dantewada district Superintendent of Police Praveer Das told PTI over phone.Mahodia’s wife also sustained injuries when she tried to save her husband, he said. Sources said the deceased had appeared before the jan adalat (public court) of the maoists after he was charged with being involved in BJP activities and working as a police informer.In another incident, Naxals killed a hotel owner Amul Mandal this morning.Police suspect that Mandal was killed for his involvement in local politics.On April 19, Naxals shot dead a Konta revenue block chairman and Congress block president Hungaram Markam near Andhra Pradesh-Chhattisgarh border.
