MUMBAI, April 15: The newly formed Bengal Mumbai Football club (BMFC) has roped in two more players. Manjinder Singh, wing back from Jagatjit Cotton Textiles (JCT) and Raju Dutta, an Eastern Railway forward, have filed their inter-state transfer papers.

According to Krishnendu Sen, managing director of BMFC, "Manjinder and Raju have agreed to don BMFC colours."

The players from outside Maharashtra are expected to join practice sessions from April 18 onwards. Tata Football Academy (TFA) recruits Sanjeeb Shaikh, James Singh and Prabhjyot Singh, presently attending the national camp for under-21 in Goa, will join the team in practice later.

Sen said Indian Football Association (IFA) is also planning to call BMFC to participate in the McDowell Cup at Calcutta. "We might make our debut in the McDowell Cup at Calcutta at the end of May," added Sen.

But when asked the prime objective, Sen said, "Our team’s main target will be to win the Super Division League of Western Indian Football Association. Butlater, we will try to be in the 10-team National League after qualifying from the second division."

The first professional club of the city has enrolled 31 players so far which includes four foreign players. "We have kept one place for the Iranian recruit who will be joining us after the World Cup. We will see the weak department and accordingly we’ll recruit," said Sen.

Some film stars have also taken membership of the city’s first professional football club. The list includes writer Javed Akhtar and director Basu Chatterjee. Ex-DIG of Mumbai and presently commissioner of Nagpur district police, PKB Chakarborty have also joined the club.

According to Sen, City Industrial Development Corporation have given a 10-acre land in Nerul to the BMFC at confessional rates to build a football stadium and the club house.
