Man throws son into well, commits suicide

NASHIK, APRIL 3: A man threw his 12-month-old son into a well and then committed suicide by jumping into it at Bhuyane-Shivar in Satana taluka of the district on Sunday, police said here on Monday.

Police said Bhausaheb Shevale (32) was opposed to the demand by his mother and two brothers that his wife bring Rs 20,000 from her father for purchase of a pair of bullocks, and there were frequent quarrels in the family over the issue.

On March 31, Bhausaheb had an altercation with his brothers over the matter and was beaten up in front of his wife. Unable to bear the insult, Bhausaheb threw his son Amol into the well and committed suicide.

The bodies were found floating in the well, police said adding that an offence has been registered against Bhausaheb’s mother and brothers.
