Officers of the Bhoiwada police arrested two persons on Saturday for tampering with a police recruitment identification card. The arrested had applied for recruitment with the Mumbai police.According to the Bhoiwada police, Sandip Jadhav (20) and his brother Dilip Jadhav (23) had applied for recruitment with the Mumbai police and the physical fitness tests for it are currently at the police parade grounds in Naigaon. While Sandip had already appeared for his fitness test, Dilip’s fitness test was supposed to take place on Saturday afternoon. “However, Dilip had severely sprained his ankle a day ago and was finding it difficult to even walk without experiencing severe pain in his leg. Due to this, he was worried that he would not be able to clear the test,” said Police sub-inspector R Salunkhe from the Bhoiwada police station.On Saturday, Sandip, posing as his brother, presented himself at Tent No 2, police parade grounds, to appear for the fitness test. Sandip had substituted his brother’s photograph on the police recruitment identification card with his own. The police stamp identification cards, given to every applicant. They also have a photograph. The imprint of the stamp is such that half of it is on the photograph and the rest on the card. When the officer in charge of the tests looked at the identification card, he noticed unevenness in the curve of the stamp, which made him suspicious. On questioning Sandip, the officer came to know of the fraud. Salunkhe said, “Both brothers have been arrested for fraud. After being produced in court on Sunday, they were remanded to police custody till November 19.”
