MUMBAI, DECEMBER 13: A 35-year-old man, Naresh Parmar, was stabbed to death when he tried to stop two groups from fighting at Kandivli on Sunday night.

At around 9.50 pm, when one Ashwin Sakpale and one Ghesulal Sharma were in the middle of a fight at Narsipada Hanuman Nagar, Sakpale drew out a sword to attack Sharma and his men brandished choppers. Parmar, taluka head of the Congress party, who was standing nearby, intervened and tried to pacify Sakpale and his accomplies.

However, angry at Parmar’s intervention, Sakpale and his men — one Manoj Singh, one Mahesh Jethwa and another unidentified person — assaulted Parmar with choppers and swords and escaped.

A bleeding Parmar was rushed to Bhagwati Hospital, where he breathed his last.

On November 22, Sharma had lodged a complaint with Kandivli police saying Sakpale had been peeping inside his house and eyeing his daughter. Kandivli police had registered a non-cognisable offence complaint and even detained Sakpale for a day. Since then, Sakpale had been trying to get even with Sharma.
