MUMBAI, OCT 21: Two members of a family were shot dead and a third critically-injured after the younger brother opened fire at them at their Goregaon residence, this afternoon.

According to the police, the incident took place at `Parijit’ building at Pandurangwadi, Goregaon (East) around 1.30 pm. Vinod Parab opened fire at his elder brother Suresh Parab (54), his wife Asha Parab and their daughter Yogita (25). While the brother and his wife died on the spot, the daughter has been rushed to the Cooper Hospital where her condition is stated to be critical. She had been admitted in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Police sources said that the incident was a fallout of a family feud. The family-members were apparently sharing two flats of the second floor of the building, which led to the quarrel among them.

The tension had been mounting in the family over the past few months and petty quarrels erupted over sharing the toilet and bathroom and the facilities in the apartment.

This afternoon, the quarrel started over dumping garbage in the dustbin. Son of retired assistant commissioner of police, Rajaram Parab, Vinod Parab in a fit of anger, rushed to his living room, removed the licensed revolver and opened fire at his relatives. Vinod is an engineer who is employed in a private firm. His son is presently at Alibagh on a holiday.

Vinod has been arrested by the Goregaon police and charged under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
