NASHIK, June 24: A man was sentenced to life imprisonment and charged a fine of Rs 3,000 for killing his wife. The judgement was passed by additional sessions judge B B Satarle.
On July 26, 1997, Shirish Baburao Gujar stabbed his wife Sangeeta with a knife 17 times when she was asleep. Sangeeta died on the spot. Shirish was suspicious of his wife and used to ill-treat her. He had once tried to push her off a cliff at Saputara.
SIX held FOR DOWRY DEATH:
Six persons were arrested on the charges of killing one Bharati Anil Gaikar (20), who died of poisoning in Nimgaon Vakda village in Sinnar taluka.
Police sources said, Bharati got married to one Anil Shankar Gaikar on February 22, 1996. Her husband and in-laws allegedly used to ill-treat her and torture her for dowry.
