V K Malhotra, BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate for Delhi, and his wife have assets worth about Rs 5 crore, which is a five-fold increase in four years.However, Malhotra owns only one old car valued at Rs 2.75 lakh, according to the declaration of assets made by him while filing the nomination papers from Greater Kailash assembly seat on Saturday.The affidavit says they have assets worth Rs 5,003,4350, including two houses in the city valued at Rs 2.5 crore. In 2004, when Malhotra contested from South Delhi Lok Sabha seat, he had declared that they had assets worth Rs 1.01 crore.Malhotra owns a house worth Rs 1 crore in Nizamuddin area in South Delhi while his wife has a house in Defence Colony worth Rs 1.5 crore, the BJP leader declared in the affidavit before the Additional District Magistrate Bansh Raj. Malhotra revealed that he and his wife have invested about Rs 1.62 crore in various financial instruments like NSS, LIC, postal savings and policies. His wife's assets are valued at over Rs 2.2 crore.While he possesses 50 gm gold jewellery worth Rs 50,000, his wife has 960 gm of gold jewellery valued at Rs 10 lakhs, he said in the affidavit.He also declared that he has Rs 1,75,000 in cash and Rs 19,38,850 as deposits in banks. His wife has Rs 1,15,000 in cash and Rs 8,05,757 as deposits in banks and shares. In 2004, he had declared that he was co-owner with his wife in one property in K G Marg worth Rs 6.25 lakh. Malhotra does not have any criminal antecedents.
