Major’s kin gets petrol pump as

Major Amiya Kumar Tripathi died four months back and since then UP Chief Minister, Mulayam Singh Yadav, had nearly forgotten his sacrifice. Today, when the slain soldier’s closest friend, Rajyawardhan Singh Rathore, India’s Olympic silver medalist, came asking for his friend’s share of honour, the Chief Minister woke up. He has now ordered that land must be allotted to Major Tripathi’s family for a petrol pump at Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.

‘‘Major Rathore today appraised me of the financial problems faced by Major Tripathi’s family. I have now directed Principal Secretary Anil Kumar to take care of all the problems immediately. The government will provide all possible help to the family,’’ said Mulayam.
