Controversial IPS officer Y.P. Singh, who stirred a hornet’s nest by writing a fiction Carnage By Angels on corruption in police force, is feeling the heat with Maharashtra Home Department recommending freezing of two annual increments although for a different reason.
The Home Department has recommended freezing of two increments of Singh, currently holding the post of Commandant in the State Reserve Police Force, after an inquiry held him responsible for illegally trying to access a sensitive file from the CBI on Panna-Mukta oil fields.
However, Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, who heads the Home Department, today denied the government’s move to freeze the officer’s increments has anything to do with his fictionalised account about corruption in the police force.
‘‘The move has nothing to do with the book,’’ Bhujbal told mediapersons.
