IMPHAL, FEB 17: The Services are all set to dominate the shooting events as they picked up all the four gold that were decided so far in the men's section in the shooting range of the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.In the women's section, it was Maharashtra which took full control of the scenario picking up the team event of the air rifle as well as all the three spots in the individual event.The Services got the team gold in air rifle (m) and free pistol (m) events, besides getting gold in individual events. In the air rifle event, Services team scored 1721 points while Maharashtra emerged second with 1688 points. Madhya Pradesh narrowly missed the silver as they got 1682 points to get the bronze.However in the individual event, TC Palangatha (679.6) faced a tough competition from A Bindra of Punjab (672.9) and AK Sahi (Services, 671.1).Although Bindra shot well in the final ten round, an opening lead of seven points, gained by Palangatha, tilted the balance in the latter's favour.In the free pistol event it was once again the Services team which got the gold with 1609 points, followed by Maharashtra (1550) and Delhi (1547) points.The individual event was taken by TK Sikdar (Services, 1640.4), although he did not do well in the last two rounds. Samaresh Jung (Delhi), who did badly in the opening rounds, had to be satisfied with the silver scoring 632.6 points while the third place went to Vivek Singh (Delhi) who scored 626.7 points.Manipur dominateW Nandini Devi of Manipur clinched the gold medal in the 53-kg event today lifting a total of 197.5 kg.Nandini lifted 85 kg in the snatch and 112.5 kg in the jerk.The silver went to P Nagaraj (AP) who lifted a total of 170 kg and the bronze went to Anita Kumari of Karnataka, who had an effort of 165 kg.In the 62-kg men's weightlifting event, M Arun (TN) bagged the gold as he lifted a total of 270 kg. He lifted 120 kg in the snatch and 150 kg in the jerk. Sreekanta Mudi (WB) won the silver.
