BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan today praised the developmental works carried out by the Prem Kumar Dhumal government in Himachal Pradesh. Addressing a thinly attended public meeting at the Sabzi Mandi ground in Shimla, he ridiculed the previous regime for its failure to carry out all-round development in the state.
Mahajan also targeted the Congress for failing to project chief ministerial candidates, saying chaotic conditions in that party make it a team without a captain. ‘‘No one knows whether the marriage party would be led by the bride or the groom,’’ he added.
Continuing his onslaught on the Congress, he said: ‘‘When Congress talks about corruption, it sounds like a prostitute talking about being loyal to one’s husband.’’
Appealing to the audience to vote for the BJP, Mahajan said that when the election results are declared on March 1 — the day India and Pakistan clash in the World Cup league — BJP’s win would be like India winning against Pakistan. Defeating the Congress would be like defeating Pakistan, he said.
