IF there’s really someone somewhere, here’s hoping she is watching the much-hyped Madhuri marriage show Kahin Naa Kahin Koi Hai. Insider sources say that the serial has run into rough weather as no couples are coming forward to get hitched on prime time. Add to that falling TRPs, and it’s enough for UTV to stop production after recording 44 episodes. No confirmation of this was available from either Sony or UTV, though. Zarine Mehta of UTV says that they had been signed on to produce enough airtime for 11 weeks. ‘‘It’s the channel’s decision whether or not to continue the show,’’ she says. A SET spokesperson says that though the research feedback recorded a high likeability factor, the TAM ratings are definitely not supportive. In fact, the nosediving TRPs have been a cause for concern right from July 29, the day the serial went on air (4.18 in the Mumbai market for individuals above four years in cable and satellite homes and 3.27 in a Hindi-speaking market comprising the cities of Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kanpur, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh). Definitely not the stuff happy endings are made of.
Losing the Meal-Ticket
WHILE shooting for his forthcoming film Jeena Sirf Merre Liye in Paris, Tusshar Kapoor misplaced his Emirates return air-ticket and created quite a chaos… The airline’s Paris office couldn’t do much to help, and eventually producer Vashu Bhagnani had to pull some strings to get his Mumbai travel agency to reissue a fresh ticket so the young actor could return to good ol’ Mumbai. Quite unlike him is Kareena Kapoor, his co-star in the film, who guards her passport and her documents with her life.
After the Cover, The Cover-Up
ALL of Mumbai’s socialite set is gossiping about the fallout between Parmesh Godrej and the Roshan parivaar. Upon urging from Rakesh and Pinky Roshan, Mrs Godrej agreed some months ago to redesign the Roshan home in Juhu. According to the grapevine, Mrs Godrej insisted she wouldn’t charge a penny for the job if only Hrithik would support the charity cause she endorses. That agreed upon, Mrs Godrej began work on the apartment, but recently abandoned the job when she read somewhere a ‘‘careless’’ remark attributed to Hrithik, that his new home was being redesigned jointly by Mrs Godrej and his wife Suzanne Khan. The high-flying industrialist wife was appalled by Hrithik’s comment and went all out to announce in the media that Suzanne had absolutely nothing to do with the redesigning, and that every stone and every piece of marble laid in that house was as per her own ideas and initiative. The house, we learn, is about 90 per cent done already, but Mrs Godrej won’t finish the job. Meanwhile, the real story, we hear, has something to do with Suzanne’s mum Zarine Khan (herself an interior designer) being a little upset that she wasn’t commissioned to do the job. In turn, Suzanne was keen to hog some of the credit herself…
Who’s Afraid of Bharat Shah?
THE very same Bollywood stars who turned a blind eye and a deaf ear when film financier Bharat Shah was arrested for his alleged nexus with the underworld are now once again giving him their attention, and indulging his every fancy. A whole swarm of film folk will fly to Antwerp shortly for the weddings of Shah’s niece and nephew (Priti and Vishal), who are getting married on the same day. Live-show organisers G S Entertainment and Cineyug will put together a package of star-studded performances by our desi actors. Among those expected to take the flight to Antwerp next week are Sridevi, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Preity Zinta, Akshaye Khanna, Urmila Matondkar, Saif Ali Khan, and Diya Mirza. Also going along will be a cartload of Mumbai models who will participate in a glittering fashion show, among the many events leading to the final shaadi. Also, there has been much talk of Nitin Desai’s scintillating Rs 11-crore sets of Devdas being used as the wedding backdrop.
Dreamz Die Hard
NOTHING quite seems to be happening at Dreamz Unlimited these days. There has been talk that choreographer Farah Khan’s directorial debut will be next on the anvil for Shah Rukh Khan’s production company, but it has been over a year now and yet there has been no announcement on that front. Meanwhile, talk that Aziz Mirza’s next (starring SRK and Aishwarya Rai) will also be announced soon, is fast getting stale. Although Shah Rukh and Juhi Chawla insist that the failure of both their films, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Asoka, hasn’t deterred them, looks like that’s exactly what has happened.
Nagging Doubt

Shashilal Nair used a body double for Manisha Koirala to film provocative scenes for his new film. The actress is upset with the nature of the scenes, and wants them deleted. Nair won’t budge. Who do you support?
Sajid Khan: ‘‘I support Manisha Koirala because I feel she is 101 percent right, and Shashilal Nair is wrong. He has behaved very badly with her.’’
Divya Dutta: ‘‘I support Manisha because I know that such scenes can harm her image and her career. Shashilal Nair used to be her friend and he should not do this to her.’’

Milind Soman: ‘‘I wholeheartedly support Manisha Koirala. She even has a letter from Shashilal Nair promising her that he’d delete the scenes if she objects to them. Now he should comply.’’
Sanjay Chhel: ‘‘Legally and technically, Shashilal Nair can go ahead with his film if it has been cleared by the Censor Board. No actor or actress can stop a filmmaker from releasing his film. However, on moral grounds I support Manisha Koirala. I feel every director should be his actors’ friend. He shouldn’t betray them.’’

Ek Badi Si Hate Story
IT’S a friendship that’s gone wrong. Not that there’s anything new to that… This is Bollywood, daahlings! Well, Manisha Koirala can’t see eye to eye with director Shashilal Nair, and she insists that’s because the filmmaker has been ‘‘sneaky’’ and ‘‘irresponsible’’ in his dealings with her. Disgusted that Nair won’t scrap certain portions of his film, Ek Chhoti Si Love Story, which he shot using a body double, Ms Koirala is furious, and to add insult to injury, Nair now claims he used a double because the actress herself was too obese at the time. Hurt that a filmmaker she trusted as a friend has turned so vindictive, Koirala says he shouldn’t forget that she agreed to do his film despite the fact that nobody was willing to touch him after the debacle of his last two movies (Grahan and One Two Ka Four). She also says she’d agreed to cut down on her acting fee for the small-budget film, and had also agreed to accept her remuneration after the film’s release, but insists that those terms are no longer agreeable to her. Pay up Mr Nair, or just shut up then.
