The CBI’s Madhumita Shukla murder case against BSP MLA and ex-UP Minister Amar Mani Tripathi is getting stronger with the victim’s mother and sister saying that the CBI sketch of one of the killers resembled Tripathi’s former servant.

And reports that the DNA samples of Madhumita’s foetus—she was six months pregnant when murdered—matches that of Tripathi’s blood sample.

According to PTI, quoting CBI sources, the DNA samples have matched but the agency was ‘‘awaiting the report in writing.’’ When contacted by The Indian Express, CBI officials here said there was no definitive confirmation yet..

The CBI—which also questioned Tripathi’s wife Madhumani today—released two sketches of the possible killers based on details provided by an eyewitness. Madhumita’s mother Shanti Shukla and younger sister Nidhi are said to have told the CBI that one of the sketches resembled Pinku, a former domestic help at the Tripathi household. Shanti and Nidhi alleged that Amar Mani later got Pinku employed with Madhumita, and that she had sacked him. ‘‘The resemblance of the sketch to Pinku clearly points to the involvement of the former minister or his wife in the murder of my daughter,’’ Shanti Devi says.

The CBI is also examining the last letter Madhumita wrote to a ‘‘Mr AM’’ (apparently Amar Mani Tripathi) that was never delivered. In this five-page letter, she says her pregnancy had become a cause of discord between her and ‘‘Mr AM’’ and that it had led to a war of words with the latter’s wife. The CBI has already interrogated Tripathi four times.
