SAS NAGAR, Dec 3: The UP and Punjab police have jointly conducted surprise checks in the premises of five industrial units in Phase-VII and Phase-III simultaneously and sealed machinery worth Rs 10 crore after its inventory.

According to police sources, all these units are reportedly being run by M.L. Gupta, who is the chairman of Sakura Seimtsu Limited and M.R.G. Plastics Technology India Limited, watch component manufacturing units situated in Noida.

These raids began yesterday in the presence of an inspection team from Pradeshia Industrial Development Corporation (PICUP) and continued till late evening today, under the supervision of Inquiry officer and Sector 20 Noida police station SHO T.P. Singh.

PICUP Deputy General Manager Devinder Singh, who headed the three-member inspection team, told Newsline that M.L. Gupta had set up his units at Noida and the machinery was financed by the Corporation. Later, all the machinery was shifted here for which a case had been registered at Sector 20 police station in Noida under Sections 406, 419 and 420 of IPC, on November 28. Those booked have been identified as M.L. Gupta and his two sons _ Rajeev Gupta and Sanjeev Gupta. However, they were not available for comments.

Senior PICUP Managers Akhi Swami and Akbar Ahmed, assisting Devinder Singh, said that C-136, F-36, E-43 and F-22 in Phase-VII and B-43 in Phase-III Industrial Areas were searched simultaneous following a tip-off. They said that the search operation will continue tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Mohali SP B.S. Randhawa also visited a factory where raids were in progress and held a discussion with Corporation officials. He said that police assistance was provided on the directions of Punjab DGP.
