SEPTEMBER 20: Mumbai Police Commissioner M N Singh has written to his counterpart in Bangkok for help in establishing the identity of the four person arrested by the Thai police for the attack on Chhota Rajan last Friday.Singh has requested the Bangkok police to authenticate reports in Bangkok papers that the Thai police has arrested four persons for the attack and that some of them were Pakistanis.The letter was despatched today ``through proper channel''. The Mumbai police has also written to the Central government seeking its help in getting more information through the diplomatic channels.Reports from Bangkok says Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) had hired local goon Chavalit Arunkait, one of the four men arrested, for carrying out reconniasance of Rohit Verma's residence.Arunkait did most of logistical work prior to the attack on 26th Sukumvit Soi. He even made arrangements for key shooters Munna Jingada and Rasid Malabari's stay at Bangkok, sources informed.The link man also provided four 9 mm pistols and more than 150 live rounds to the hitmen. An estimated 30 rounds were fired by the three gunmen who barged into the first floor bungalow and took Rajan and his henchmen by surprise.While Salim Sher alias Maria arrived at the Thai capital on September 14, Sayed Muddasir Hussain alias Munna Jingada and Pakistan national Mohammed Yusuf arrived on August 3. It is still not clear when the other members of squad - Farid Khan, Mir Sher Khan and other unidentified associates - arrived.Meanwhile, the body of Rohit Verma, who was among the six killed in the attack at his house, was cremated in Bandra today. The cremation was a low-key affair with about two hundred people from the area gathering around the body. The funeral was wathced over by a clutch of policemen and intelligence officers who, it is learnt, video-taped the funeral. It went off without incident.
