The Diwali mela organised by the District Red Cross in Sector 5, that concluded today received a lukewarm response. While residents attributed this to the less number of stalls put up this year, officials of the Red Cross, said they were satisfied with the response.
“We did go to the mela but did not find anything attractive or worth purchasing. Efforts should be made to put up stalls which have both quality and variety,” said Monika Verma, a resident of Sector 4. Similar sentiments were echoed by another visitor, Rohit Kaushik, a resident of Sector 21. He said that he had come to the mela thinking it would be good in comparison to the last year, but did not find anything special.
Officials of the Red Cross, meanwhile, were satisfied with the response. Talking to Newsline, an official of Red Cross said: “Though the response was less than what was expected, but it was better than the previous years.”
