DUBAI, OCT 11: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a lucrative package of performance bonuses for its national cricket team, offering Rs five lakh to every member of the team if it wins the Test series in Australia.
The board has already awarded Rs two lakh to every member of the team which won the Toronto Series recently as a special bonus.
Apart from the bonus, a player who hits a double century will stand to earn Rs two lakh and a century or four catches will fetch Rs one lakh.
Besides, the PCB has hiked the daily allowance from $50 to $75 with a revised meal allowance of $50. National team players will be staying in single room accommodation and will travel in Club Class. The new contract will be signed before the team’s departure for Sharjah.
Uniform guarantee money
DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to formulate a uniform policy on the guarantee and appearance money for all Test playing countries.
“During their three day executive board meeting inDubai, the ICC considered a uniform formula on the allocation of guarantee money between the hosts and the visiting board,” according to The Khaleej Times which quoted a board source.
Previously the guarantee money was a matter of mutual arrangement between the two boards. The ICC board meeting ended here yesterday.
The ICC Chief executive David Richards did not confirm the agenda or details of the meeting saying the proceedings were confidential. “We will be making it public after its approval from the board of directors,” he said.
“Even though the meeting is a routine affair, we do not usually release the contents. Hopefully, we will be doing this tomorrow or the day after from our offices in London or Calcutta,” he said.
Jayasuriya, Lara confident
DUBAI: Sri Lankan captain Sanath Jayasuriya said he is confident of winning the three nation Sharjah Cricket Cup beginning on October 13 against the tough rivals West Indies and Pakistan. “Right now our team is combining well andthere is no problem in the team at the moment,” Jayasuriya said on his arrival here. “The past is behind us,” added the swashbuckling opener who led his team to a historic Test series win over Australia.
He said he was not unduly concerned about his form as he did all right in the Test and one-day series back home.
Meanwhile, West Indies skipper Brian Lara, who hit a 45-ball century against Bangladesh on Saturday, also appeared confident about leading his pack to victory at Sharjah. He said though Bangladesh is not a strong side, the ten-day tour to Dhaka did a lot of good to the team’s morale and put the team back to its winning ways.
“We have a lot of fresh blood and are a team for the future,” he said on his arrival.
